Im in the middle of removing my tranny and am held up by only one bolt...the top driver's side bell housing bolt that is covered by EGR components. Tomorrow I need to pick up a long extension in order to access the bolt in order to remove the tranny finally, but one thing has got me wondering..., the write-up for tranny removal insists on using a 3' x 1/2" extension and socket. My assumption is that the 1/2" is the recommended drive size of the socket/extension. I have 3/8" drive ratchet/socket sets only(except for the torque wrench and a breaker bar for the crank bolt). Why would the 1/2" drive be recommended over say the 3/8" drive? Is it because the 3/8" drive swivel will bind up at that angle, or is there another reason? Thanx
